COMMON CHILDHOOD ILLNESSES AND CONDITIONS

HEADBUMPS AND "GOOSE EGGS"

If your child has sustained a closed head injury and been unconscious, notify your doctor immediately or go to the nearest Emergency Room. If no loss of consciousness has occurred (your child cried immediately), you may watch your child carefully for the next 24 hours. Remember to awaken your child every 2-3 hours for 24 hours for examination.

CONTACT THE DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY OR GO TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM IF YOUR CHILD EXPERIENCES:

• Vomiting more than once
• Unexplained bruising behind either ear or around the eyes
• Bleeding from either ear
• Any trouble with vision or unequal pupil size
• Unusual drowsiness with or without vomiting
• Any trouble with balancing when standing or walking
• Persistent, severe headache
• Seizures or convulsions
